January 30 - February 1: Pre-meeting Field Trip
Optional: Join us for a three-day, pre-meeting field trip to explore the Motagua fault system, including paleoseismic trenches, offset fluvial terraces, mine quarry outcrops, and a visit to the Mayan site of Quiriguá. Trip leaves at 7:30 a.m. on January 30 from Antigua and returns to Antigua on February 1 in the late afternoon.
February 1
Check-in begins at 5 p.m. for the PATA 2026 at the conference venue: Convento de las Capuchinas (corner of 2a Avenida Norte y 2a Calle Oriente) in Antigua. Explore the museum. Welcome Party (7-9 p.m.).
February 2
A full day of talks and poster presentations. Lunch is provided. The PATA Guatemala "Happy Hour" will be at the "El Bosque" Antigua Cerveza Beer Garden.
February 3
The morning will be a walking tour of the archaeo- seismology of Antigua (8 a.m.-12 p.m.). Lunch is provided at Las Capuchinas. The afternoon will be talks and poster presentations. Dinner is not included.
February 4
The morning session will feature talks from Guatemalan and other colleagues highlighting 50 years since the 1976 earthquake. Lunch is provided. The afternoon session will be talks and posters. Dinner is not included.
February 5
The morning will be talks and posters. Lunch is provided. INQUA and PATA meetings will take place after lunch. In the late afternoon, we will go to a Coffee Plantation for a tour and dinner.
February 6: Post-meeting Field Trip
Optional: Post-meeting field trip: Bus leaves Antigua to faults exposed at the Xenacoj outcrop on the western margin of the Guatemala City Graben and returns to Antigua.
